Thousands of labouriously shaped pieces of paving and roofing slate are patiently nipped and cajoled into shape and held together with waterproof mortar. These take a looong time to make and I place as much weight on their sculptural qualities as I do on their fountainy ones.Vaguely Art Related Producthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04483847260178925360noreply@blogger.comBlogger7125tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22182239.post-1143279185306214732006-07-14T19:49:00.000+09:302006-07-14T14:26:21.436+09:30anemone form<a href="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/2548/2253/1600/DSCN1269.3.jpg"><img style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/2548/2253/320/DSCN1269.2.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><a href="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/2548/2253/1600/DSCN1263.2.jpg"><img style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/2548/2253/320/DSCN1263.0.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><a href="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/2548/2253/1600/DSCN1263.1.jpg"></a><br /><a href="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/2548/2253/1600/DSCN1269.1.jpg"></a><br /><a href="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/2548/2253/1600/DSCN1260.1.jpg"><img style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/2548/2253/320/DSCN1260.1.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><a href="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/2548/2253/1600/DSCN1260.0.jpg"></a><br /><a href="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/2548/2253/1600/DSCN1269.0.jpg"></a><br /><a href="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/2548/2253/1600/DSCN1260.jpg"></a><br /><a href="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/2548/2253/1600/DSCN1269.jpg"></a><br /><a href="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/2548/2253/1600/DSCN1263.jpg"></a><br /><a href="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/2548/2253/1600/DSCN1265.jpg"><img style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/2548/2253/320/DSCN1265.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><span style="font-size:85%;">I suppose it is based on an anemone, but the thing is when you design these things the function does dictate the form. Can be a bit of a limitation when you try and push the envelope. If I was to just think of the best way to assemble pieces of slate that would enable water to flow slowly and evenly over a form, it would most likely resemble some kind of botanical/marine creature.<br /><br />Funny that. While they are made to last a thousand years, they can be a delicate thing to get around. I've had one turn turtle on me in the truck once so it forced me to adress the issue properly.
